This piece of work really shows your attention to detail and sympathy for the just the right balance between colour and texture, something which a lot of photographers really struggle with.
I really enjoyed the small gap which reveals a totally different colour, almost a different world or feeling being shown beyond the overriding colouring / tectures. Also the two small areas of darkness add to the mystery of the image.
The image also demonstartes that you are able to look for small finer details which really make an image feel alive and make you feel like you could almost touch them - as I've said before these would make lovely prints and I would certainly love to see one fully printed and put up in a gallery.
Despite the fact that you are not yet using a DSLR you really do have an excellent eye for colour, keep this up as it is key - cameras AND lense's can vary greatly in terms of colour representation (obviously there's white balance and other factors) and understand how yours will react is a good skill.

More than anything keep producing work!
